In the second quarter of 2024, dragon-themed games continued to captivate the US Android audience with varying degrees of engagement and revenue generation. Sensor Tower provides a deeper dive into the performance of these games.
Dragon City: Mobile Adventure saw a slight decrease in revenue with numbers fluctuating around $100K weekly, after peaking at $111K towards the end of May. Downloads for the game started at 32K in the first week of April and experienced a dip, bottoming out at 20K in early May, before rising again to 33K in June. Weekly active users showed a similar pattern, starting at 527K, dropping to 451K in early May, and then climbing to a high of 604K by the end of June.
Zynga's Merge Dragons! demonstrated more stability in revenue, maintaining around $400K to $460K weekly, with downloads ranging from 13K to 18K. The game's active users remained fairly constant, hovering around the 250K mark throughout the quarter.
The newcomer Dragon POW! from Singapore's BOLTRAY GAMES had a modest start with its first full quarter on the market. Revenue peaked in the second week at $46K and then declined to $6K by the end of June. Downloads had a strong start at 27K but fell sharply to under 2K. Active users peaked at 28K in April but also saw a decrease, ending at around 14K.
Dragon Drill by WinterGameStudio, despite generating negligible revenue, showed an interesting trend in downloads and active users. Downloads saw spikes, particularly in early May with over 11K, but overall trended downward. Active user numbers saw an increase from 44K to 51K by mid-June, before falling to 44K again.
Lastly, Dragonscapes Adventure from Century Games PTE. LTD. displayed a steady revenue stream, starting the quarter at $141K and ending with $87K. Downloads and active users both saw a decline, with downloads starting at 4.4K and ending at 3.8K, and active users dropping from 40K to 36K.
